Pareidolia at Porthmeor
Pareidolia at PorthmeorDuring a four week residency at Porthmeor’s studio 5 in St Ives, I explored the theme of pareidolia - a psychological phenomenon where we perceive meaning in random visual patterns and forms. From found coastal flotsam, photography and sound recordings, I developed a small installation infusing the unique atmosphere of the site.

The Cornish Lithophone
The Cornish LithophoneA granite stone - sourced and donated by Tim Marsh who owns a local quarry in Mabe, Penryn. The grid pattern cut into the granite releases the ancient voice of the stone. This technique was inspired by a Sardinian sculptor, Pino Sciola ( http://www.pinucciosciola.it )
